The good in us
Sep. 15th, 2022 09:40 amThere´s a twitter account that occasionally posts about nearly forgotten Germans during WWII who were in the resistence/underground and I´m always astonished by the bravery of these people. Death was always around the corner and so many of them risked everything everyday. We hear so less about them in school so that you can get the impression that there was no resistence at all in my country. But there was and a lot of very young people fought against this evil that was directly in front of them everyday.
But I couldn't wrap my mind around where this bravery came from. How they were able to act in an environment of constant danger and fear of death.
But maybe it is exactly THAT which is needed. It sounds terrible, but maybe evil is needed to activate or mobilize these capacities to resist, to be brave and to risk everything. It is a trigger that we need to access these deep sources of energy. And so it may be true that there can be no light without shadow. Good needs evil to grow from it and vice versa.
